ConfucianismConfucianism has been the dominant ethical system in traditional Chinese culture for greater than two thousand years. Founded by the thinker Confucius, it has permeated all points of Chinese society. It has also been influential in countries equivalent to Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and a number of territories with ethnic Chinese majorities. Confucianism has been associated with practices and social views that experience long been considered immoral, particularly with reference to women. Confucianism has historically acquired little endorsement from liberal-minded Chinese women, who view it as a morally bankrupt feudal philosophy that does little to advantage women. However, a recent spate of media and opinion pieces has pushed a revival of Confucianism in China, in large part driven by the work of girls like Yu Dan, a professor at Beijing Normal University. Confucianism views men as superior and ladies as subordinates. It also views male progeny as the one source of family lineage. Therefore, men are expected to work and supply for his or her households, while women should stay at home to take care of their babies. According to Confucian teachings, women should uphold the "three subordinations" of love, family, and youngsters. Confucian morality views sex as a taboo and prohibits dialogue of it.25.03.2023
