The X rating was created due to this need. This rating has made it difficult for filmmakers to make movies that have an R rating, and that they have been forced to alter the content of the film so that you can obtain the X rating. However, this designation was never intended to be a similar as the PG rating. The MPAA created these rating systems as a way to help parents check which movies are acceptable for his or her little ones. These scores are in response to the MPAA's criteria for movies. Generally, films that receive an X rating should not viewed masterpieces and are appropriate for mature audiences. It became synonymous with pornographyThe term X-rating, or "excessive content," first gave the impression on the label of mainstream films in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The MPAA didn't recognize some other ratings above the "X" category, which made it easier for pornographers to use their films to attract a wide audience. In the 1970s, the term became synonymous with pornography, and X-rated movies were more common. The term "pornography" is commonly used in a normative sense, which means that many of us have no choice but to define a work as pornographic. This discussion is often not targeting the content material of a work's content, but on the intentions of its manufacturers.
